If anyone is out there, have you read Rowling's new book? I started it at 8:00 last night and finished it at 3:45 this morning. When I finished, I closed the book and thought"well, that was different". It is the most unusual book I have ever read. The book is character dirven in that the choices the characters make move the plot along. It is dark, gritty, sometimes funny, and real.

One reviwer wrote that Paigeford could be the small English Village where she lives. I am origionally from a small farming/resort town in America's Mid West and If our Village Board was faced with the same circumstances as the Village of Paigeford, they would act the same way.

It is not Harry Potter and is NOT FOR CHILDREN, but I think it is very good. Rowling gives us a ride up a mountian and then gently rolls us down. What do you think?

I think... uh... you've got... ah... some shit on your nose that
doesn't belong there. Where do you think it came from?

I fail to see how one faceless reader out of millions could possibly
be brown nosing the worlds most famious author. I posted a review
because I liked the book. I wanted to know what others thought and if
anyone wanted to discuss the book. As far as I am concerned, I will
not respond to any more remarks about my motives.

Because you fail to see your face pressed firmly to Rowling's asshole
does not mean it isn't happening. Note the shit on your nose. Do you
crap out of your nostrils?

I've never quite understood this phrase since it seems a self-evident
description of any plot: presumably it implies that people's choices
seem in tune with what we know of their previous actions rather than
being wildly out of character just in order to produce an arbitrary
effect?

I haven't read it myself: reviewers are naturally biased by the 'Can she
equal the Harry Potter phenomenon' question, but the main criticism I've
seen so far is that Rowling has no ear for lower class dialect,
producing weirdly mangled semi-phonetic phrases. Which I find oddly
reminiscent of Hagrid (whose accent, as represented on paper, bears no
relation to anything I've ever heard -- who says 'yeh' for 'you'? A
Londoner might say "'ave yer?" for a Devon man's "Have 'ee?" or a
Yorkshireman's "Has 'ta?", but 'yeh' means nothing to me)

Otherwise, the book sounds good enough, though as you will note it
didn't inspire me to rush out and buy a copy... :-(

I have a copy of the audiobook and am halfway through the first part of
three - and so far so good. I would very much agree with a previous poster's
comment "that's different" and that's not unsatifying, but more importantly,
I am dying to know where it is all leading.

Would I recommend it? Perhaps I am being rash, just one sixth of the book
in, but on what I have heard so far -yes I would.

So you steal them. Much like your heroine Rowling stole HP from Sam
Muldoon and The Philosopher's Stone.

Thieves of feather...
