In chapter 20 Dumbledore and Harry were using the Pensieve to go into
the memories of Hokey the house-elf.
I thought that you had to stay with the 'owner' of the memories and
could not wander around to much. Because the 'owner' can't have memories
about places he isn't in. In this chapter however Hokey leaves the room
they're in at least one time. How can this happen?

Not a clue. How *can* this happen?

Well if you want to get technical, how can they see from a different point
of view etc? How could a person remember that? It magically recreates the
scene. Hokey only had to be listening still and it would have magically
recreated everything else (such as the movements of the people). Only speach
was real because Hokey was still listening. That why he was so fast with
getting drinks etc.

Why couldn't Bellatrix use a Pensieve to retrieve memories from Kreacher to find the HQ of OoTP
like DD did from Hokey? I thought the Secret-keeper charm only prevented the person from
revealing the location to others not conceal it from him/her/it self?

I think the memory has to be willingly given... and that would be like
telling someone, which is impossible if there is a Fidelius Charm
involved.

Harry HAD to go to Slughorn and get him to GIVE the real memory up,
otherwise Dumbledore could have just taken it by stealth or force.

Perhaps a House Elf is to some extent aware of His/Her
Master/Mistress even when not physically present - Harry is able
to summon Kreacher just by calling his name.

That would be logical, but in fact Harry wanders around Snape's memory of
his father and sees things Snape could absolutely NOT have seen because
Snape was not there. I had problems with that myself when I read it.

What happened to James at the test, and everything past the point of Lilly
talking to Snape and leaving.
