Ok, I know that Tom was only seen briefly in the SS....but am I the only one
out there that doesn't believe that this "new" Tom was a cast off from the
Rocky Horror Picture Show or maybe Crybaby?

The whole bald hunchback that doesn't speak really didn't do much for
me....the gentleman in the first movie had my idea of what the character
should look/sound like?

Other than that I thought the movie was pretty good....didn't really care
for the ending...but I would pay to see it again.

There was definitely a Riff-Raff vibe there, yeah.

I liked him...

I dunna. I mean maybe Im just a frightend lil' kid at heart, but Tom
scared the bejeezus outta me. Not even cool! He did have the Riff-Raff
from Rockey Horror look and EYE-GOR look from Young Frankenstien, but
was anyone else wondering why he crushed his nuts? The wallnuts I
mean.

He crushed the nuts because can't chew things.
In the book he's described as toothless ("gummy" = no teeth in his gums).

But wasn't he crushing them and then trying to give them to Harry? :)

I did think that was rather funny :) DH must not have a sense of humor...or

movie...

He freaked me out a little, my mental image is of a short, balding
overweight country yokel, something out of Emmerdale farm with an apron
and a tea tray.
This guy was creepy, it reminded me of the hunchback type person out of
Scary Movie that stirs the soup and serves the food with that gammy
deformed hand...lol

It wasn't so much how he looked, but how different he appeared from the
character in the first two movies that cheesed me off. That and the way the
Leaky Cauldron looked different inside and it seemed to be in a completely
different location to the first movie. I know a lot of places were in
different places in this movie (like the Whomping Willow for instance) but
this one really jarred.

So did the appearance of Professor Flitwick. In fact, are we sure it *was*
Professor Flitwick? I get why some of the locations had to be changed but
if I'm honest, I find changing the appearance of characters so drastically
completely pointless. Yeah, I was miffed about that. It upset me :-(

It threw me off when I saw Tom...but I wasn't sure that was supposed to be
Prof. Flitwick until we saw him setting at the head table? That's why it
throws me when they talk about the kids being replaced in the main
characters......it's hard to visualize anyone else doing it once they have
already been in a couple of films.

Yes, for some reason even the minor characters in these movies really make
themselves at home in your mind, don't they? And somehow those images are
reinforced by the books.

What's that old wives saying? The devil's in the details? :) While some of
the things seem to be thrown in to add color or possibly just a little
obscure thing to kind of move the plot along, it's those things that make it
such a good read. I normally do not like to see movies of books that I
haven't read b/c I would rather think of what the characters should look
like/sound like/ect. After they have been read I like to watch a movie to
see if my ideas were close to "their" ideas of what the story should look
like.
