Post by YellowPost by Draco MalfoyPost by YellowCybil Shepherd is fabulous because she has screen presence where as Emma
is just some girl who got a lucky break.
but got her break with a made-for role in The Last Picture Show
including the tutelage of Peter Bogdanovich and /especially/ Ellen
Burstyn.
As I haven't seen any of CS's films from when she was a teenager I
cannot comment on them but I comment on say Robert Pattinson. I've seen
everything he's been in and he is the same age as Emma and he is a
fantastic actor and will do great things. I am salivating, waiting for
the release of Water For Elephants.
And of course Kristen Stewart who is also the same age. Not seem all her
stuff but there's Panic Room when she was a sprog, Adventureland and the
Twilight series and she does a very credible acting job. The way she
holds the camera while displaying emotions on her face (not sure how to
explain) is outstanding.
Fine young actress who grew up in an acting family which was great
advantage. Never cornered into a single role, another great advantage.
Never had to attend and pass on merit high level prep and an Ivy
League school. Emma-->Hermione which goes back around to she hasn't
really had a chance to diversify.
Which is the key for a female's success, without diversification and
the talent required, you're a going to have a helluva time.
Back to CS, she was brooding around Memphis from the late 70s to early
80s pretty much failing at everything because she had no formal acting
base and, frankly, she wasn't very talented. Moonlighting TX series
remade her when she dropped the heavy, dramatic parts for light
comedy. Bingo - diversification.
All I am saying about Watson is give her piece a chance. lol She will
diversify or fail.
Post by YellowBoth have shown grown, improved and demonstrated their talent while Emma
has spent her 10 years on screen flaring her nostrils and being "angry".
That's not true and you know it. DHI required a much broader range of
expression (despair, dark unhappiness, anger, bitterness,...) much
less she had to grow Hermione into the beginnings of an adult.
Post by YellowPost by Draco MalfoyPost by YellowPost by Draco MalfoyReality sets in. Sex sells. Watson needs to get off that goody two
shoes BS train she's on.
Seems she aspires to be Kristen Stewart, which I suppose is
understandable, but Emma is going to have a huge hill to climb.
All child actors do. If she takes this role, we will see since
Incarceron has a 2001 feel to it. I'm not sure she knows what she
wants to be and her heavy English accent is going to be a limiting
issue. Maybe Audrey Hepburn?
Post by YellowGood luck to her and all that, but I still wish she'd been dumped after
the 2nd HP film.
lol
See, Yellow, that's what happens when you read the books first.
But I didn't.
When I started listening to the audio books in 2005, the first three
films were already out.
Oh, my bad. I found the books right crappy, I am listening to the
audiobooks myself. Jesus, I sure wish Tyler could find more than one
female voice, his Hermione is a joke.
Post by YellowPost by Draco MalfoyWhat do you think of Radcliffe's chances on the screen?
He can act.
Well, jury still out on his film and stage career, I'll give him the
same rope I give Emma.
You see, I am all in for female actors after getting an up close and
personal view (bridegroom and wife a bridesmaid at CS wedding fiasco),
it's a tough row to hoe.
